In Russia it has been started the Science Festival 2014, which became widespread in the world. For the first time the analogous event was held in Great Britain at the beginning of the XIX century. The event’s purpose was a slightly opening the science secrets to society. The Science Festivals held in the overwhelming majority of countries allow us to understand how the quality of life can be changed owing to research.

The first Russian Science Festival – had passed in Moscow in 2006 – was attended by over 20,000 people. In 2012, the All-Russian Science Festival – had already passed in 65 Russian regions – numbered more than 800,000 visitors. In 2014, the event takes place in 70 Russian regions. The heightened interest in the event can be explained the fact that from time immemorial people want to know that occurs in scientific laboratories.

Within the framework of Science Festival 2014 it has been organized such events as:

  • Lectures of eminent scientists and science popularizers
  • Discussions about the future of mankind
  • The latest scientific and informative movies
  • Workshops
  • Multimedia installations
  • Teleconference with leading research centers in the world
  • Fascinating research shows
  • Interactive exhibitions
  • Excursions to scientific laboratories, etc.

The event’s participants are: foreign embassies; foreign scientific and educational organizations from the USA, Japan, Germany, China, UK, India, France, Israel, Estonia, Switzerland and other countries; Russian ministries and agencies; Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian Academy of Medical Sciences; public research centers; state corporations; innovative companies; industrial enterprises; universities and other interested organizations.

Plekhanov Russian University of Economics also participated in the Science Festival 2014, where the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Global challenges to management: Russian request for innovative development” has been organized by the Department of Management Theory and Business Technologies. During the conference it has been discussed the current trends and problems of Russian management.

The conference was attended by representatives of the California University (USA), Capetown University (Republic of South Africa), State University of Management, Peoples’ friendship university of Russia, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the business community (SAP company and other ones) and non-governmental organizations (the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Association of Russian Managers).
